The TVEC Professional Cookery Course is a nationally accredited vocational training programme under the NVQ framework, regulated by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission. Sri Lanka’s thriving hospitality and tourism industry creates strong demand for professionally trained cooks and chefs in hotels, restaurants, and resorts both locally and across the Maldives and Middle East.
This course provides hands-on training in professional kitchen techniques, local and international cuisine, food hygiene, and kitchen management — giving graduates the skills needed to work in any professional kitchen environment.
What You Will Learn
- Basic and advanced cooking methods – boiling, roasting, frying, grilling, steaming
- Sri Lankan cuisine – rice and curry, short eats, and traditional dishes
- Continental and Asian cuisine preparation
- Bakery and pastry basics
- Food hygiene, HACCP principles, and kitchen safety
