The NAITA Welder Course is a nine-month NVQ Level 3 programme designed to produce skilled welders for Sri Lanka’s manufacturing, construction, and engineering industries. With no minimum educational qualification required, this course is accessible to anyone with the physical aptitude and interest in metalwork and fabrication.
What You Will Learn
- Arc welding (MMA/SMAW) — technique, electrode selection, and joint preparation
- MIG/MAG welding (GMAW) on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- TIG welding (GTAW) for precision and pipe welding
- Oxy-acetylene gas welding and cutting techniques
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Joint types — butt, fillet, lap, T-joint, and corner welds
- Weld inspection, quality control, and defect identification
- Welding safety, PPE, and fire prevention in the workshop
